January 2016

Oh dear, oh dear. It’s now February and I still haven’t caught up with January. Yes, I’ve been busy. When I’ve been out half the night and working all day, coming home to work on the eBay Store, I get to the point where my back hurts and I retire to the very comfy couch to give it some support, watch some tv episodes and vegetate.

Jobs have included extending past the Christmas rush as a delivery driver for Edible Arrangements, working in a kitchen at 2 different retirement homes, and I have just picked up a temp to hire job with a company who supply the rebar (concrete reinforcing rods) and post tensioning hydraulic equipment to construction jobs. Still working one day a week at the Funeral Home, but Julie was “asked to resign” from them. She has had a week of going stir crazy and looking for other work.

Angel has had the occasional visit to stay with Duncan, and when she returns, Buddy takes great pleasure in pouncing on her. She had a funk period for a while after we moved into the apartment, which was cured by spending some time at the house, and she’s been fine ever since, often doing her running around like an idiot thing. And Buddy is, well, he’s just Buddy!

The second kitchen job was at a memory care facility, where I would help to serve the meals, then bus the tables and do an entire kitchen full of bloody dishes! The job was only for 2 days, and on the second day, I worked for about 12 hours! Apparently, I also had a number of older ladies going googly-eyed over my accent. I didn’t notice any of them!

We took the old German clocks out of storage, had them both refurbished, and they are finally back with us.

Julie was sure she could smell something burning. The circuit finally shorted itself out completely, about the same time as Julie locating the maintenance guy, who happened to be onsite. He said that if this had happened at night, we might have been a whole lot warmer then we cared to be! At least we now know where the switchboard is.
