August already. Another shake-down trip in the bus, this time to Sydney for my regular appointment to get my back straightened. Now that Peter & I have dealt with many of the overlying issues in the muscular structure, he is now working on stuff like the flexibility in my hips, which in turn (hopefully) will impact my Restless Legs in a positive way. The dogs travelled well today on their first long run. Kelly settled down to sitting at Julie's feet, while Angel alternated between her rug on the floor between us & the heater box under my seat (she's not silly). As long as she stays out of my driving space, that's fine! At one point, she even went back to the doorway & sat there, to indicate that it was time for a pee stop. At one of the pee stops, we met another dog & at one point, the other dog approached Julie, quite innocently, & Kelly bolted back to her to defend her with a growl & a snap! We hadn't realised that he was quite so protective. Tonight we are dining at the local RSL Club & walking back to the bus, which is parked just across the road from Peter's place in Ramsgate, right next to the local park. That's our idea of a "good" evening these days. Hey, it's quiet & it's not freezing cold (we're in Sydney, not Canberra). Monday, 10th. News from Mary that our re-finance now has final approval & will finally be moving ahead. Yay. Can I relax now? Tuesday. Got a phone call from Julie at work to ask whether it was hailing at my work. Nope, clear sky here. OK, it's hailing small golf balls here. Much excitement & examination of the radar pictures on the BOM (Bureau Of Meteorology) website. Later, she called me so that I could hear the hail against the window. Pictures are up. Sunday, 16th. News on Friday from Mary that loan documents were being prepared. Meanwhile, we needed to act quickly to transfer 1% of the ownership of the 2 properties in Brisbane from me to Julie - because the loans are in joint names, the titles must also be in joint names (or something like that). Now just praying that all the documentation gets to us in time for us to get them signed & witnessed, then back in the mail in time for settlement on Friday. Maybe then we can both relax. And in other news today, Julie got back into cooking & launched out with Chicken Fried Steak (also known as CFS or Country Fried Steak) with gravy, mash & vegies. Seal of Approval granted! The "Friday" mentioned above was a very big day. Word arrived on Thursday that the documents were being prepared, so in the wee small hours of Friday morning, I figured that if I took some time off work & flew down to Melbourne to collect them, then we would save at least a day of waiting for them in the post & it would be cheaper than one day's worth of default interest payments. The end result was that I flew down on Friday afternoon & collected the documents from the bank branch, which as luck would have it, is on the opposite side of Melbourne from the airport. I had enough time to drop in on Brooke & Paul for just a few minutes before dashing back to the airport. I was running really late & ran (yes, ran) all the way from the car park to the departure lounge, only to find that with the large storm that had swept through Melbourne during the day, only one of the two runways were in use & all flights were delayed. Which meant that I needn't have run all that way, but at least I caught my flight home. I spent nearly all day on Saturday getting all the documentation together (& correcting mistakes) & getting everything signed & witnessed. Today is Sunday & I surprised Julie with a trip to Melbourne today, so that I could go with Paul to take the documents back & push them under the door (thereby saving another day in the post), while she hung out with Brooke for a while. We are now chilling out at the airport, watching the sun go down.
