Wow, it's Autumn already. We have had such a mild summer, that it doesn't seem right. I have been working hard on my new marketing website called aussierodney.com. Feel free to check it out & register. Good news for this month - Julie scored another job. In fact, she saw an ad that had expired, she had already applied for the same job through a head hunter, but then couldn't find that ad later, sent off her resume, received a phone call the same afternoon, had an interview the next morning & started the following Monday. And so far, she's loving it. It's a construction company that works out of their own home in the next suburb over from us - it's just a few minutes on the scooter from home. I've met her boss & she's a real character. We've just got back from a long weekend down at the coast. Very relaxing. We both escaped from work early on Friday & got to Broulee about 6, then realised that we had packed nothing for dinner, so headed down to Moruya to stock up & decided to eat out anyway. On the way back, standing right next to the road, was a red fox, the first one we have seen so close up. Of course, by the time we had turned around for a photo, he was heading off across the fields. Saturday, Tim & Lily from next door arrived & we filled the day drowning ourselves in the ocean, eating, shopping & relaxing. Fish & chips on the beach, mmmm. Lily managed to find a floatie thing at half price, so it was put to good use. The bunch of girls 2 units away managed to stay up talking until 2 am, not that we really noticed, as we were all asleep relatively early. We found out later from talking to the caretaker, that they had been blacklisted by him & that the next time they try to make a booking, the park will be fully booked. Sunday was a trip into Batemans Bay to get some seafood for dinner - we ended up with cold crab & some garlic prawns to cook on the BBQ. Managed to drown ourselves in the ocean again, mostly trying to surf in on the floatie. That night, we managed to show Julie the Milky Way & I kinda got a photo of the Southern Cross. Monday was pack up & head for home. All of us have a tan! And this newsletter is now 4 weeks out of date. I spent a chunk of the Easter extra-long weekend installing a drip feed irrigation system in the garden. We went down to Bunnings & I was looking for the "system" where you have to plug it all together & Julie spotted a dripper hose, nice neutral brown colour with drippers built in every foot, ready to lay on top of the garden area. Hmm, that certainly made the job a whole lot easier, although I can now only do about a quarter of the amount of work that I used to be able to do. Ugh! Anyway, I ran the new system for about 48 hours, until it looked well & truly soaked. Lo & behold, the strawberry plants that had looked like they weren't going to make it through to next season, suddenly started growing again. Yay! And we are very pleased with our first crop of tomatoes. We haven't needed to buy any since November.
