Another week gone. The agent at the old house really pissed me off, by charging me for repairs to one of the walls, which I had already repaired, but not well enough it seems. And this is after I had voluntarily made a generous offer for some relatively minor damage to the hardwood flooring in the dining room. And then he said that there was a toilet brush that needed to be returned to the ensuite. Jeez, who cares? I'm waiting for the remainder of my bond refund in my hot little hand, before I rip him a new one via e-mail. And another weekend gone, working on getting the new house unpacked & set up. The kitchen is now fully installed, numerous things have gone up on walls, the back bedroom & study now have some room to move, & the lounge room took quite a bit of shuffling furniture around before we got it into the state that I had envisioned. Once Julie saw the final product, she was happy with it, although of course it was nothing like what I had explained. (!) We also lashed out & bought an outside table with 4 chairs that fit right in under it, some solar lights for the garden & some new tools for me. In the process, we discovered that the large box that the table came in was perfect for a "play pen" for the puppies, so that they can "be there" in the carport, but can't run off, while we transfer things from the car in through the gate. We have to stop going to Bunnings. We spend way too much there., but we do come home with some good stuff. The latest acquisition is a solar powered security light for the carport gate area, where to get power out there is going to cost us big time. And a door bell with a button on each gate. Funny story - this place has no less than 3 gates! We were missing a delivery of medication for the dogs to combat their persistent ear mites. It wasn't until Julie went in the direction of the third gate (the one we don't use, but it is the one with the unit number on it) that we found the package that had been sitting there for over a week. This came about because we dashed out of the house on Sunday morning to go to the Gundaroo markets, partly to check out the massive motorbike fundraising convoy out there. We came home to find that one of her slippers was "missing", so she was searching for it, anywhere & everywhere. Also on the photos page, some of the pictures we received in e-mails of the snowfalls out near Bungendore last week. It was apparently a freak set of conditions of a south-easterly breeze meeting a cold blast in the wee small hours when the humidity was very high. It certainly stuffed up the traffic out there! This week's piece of geeky excitement is that I have started hosting my webcam image on the Weather Underground site. Then I just made the webcam page on my site pull the image from there instead of from fiddaman.info & I've got bonuses. First is that the image loads faster (for me here it does anyway - might be different in Europe). Second, my webcam images appear on their site along with umpteen other locations. Third, is that they provide a flash movie of all of the images from the previous 24 hours. Told you it was geeky! For a first-hand look, head on over to the webcam page. And the end of the financial year went out with a small surprise party to celebrate Julie's birthday, along with a bit of a housewarming. Only 4 guests arrived, which was OK because this is really only quite a small house anyway & we all fitted around the glass table for dinner & conversation.
