On-board luggage:

As the Solomon Airlines aircraft is a Boeing 737-300 (approx 120 pax) & only operates a limited number of flights per week, we are severely weight limited on our luggage to 7 Kg carry-on & 15 Kg checked. This allows an additional 5 Kg per person for project "stuff", which takes us up to the 20 Kg limit.

The gear list will be distributed at the Training Day on Sunday 20 June. Keep it simple! Keep it light!

Current temps are 31 max & 21 min & still humid, with showers & some storm activity. I just hope I'm wrong.

Personal Money:

There will be opportunities for travellers cheques to be cashed. Both Westpac & ANZ have a branch in Honiara, where ATM facilities are available. Most major credit cards are accepted at hotels and businesses in Honiara only. EFTPOS is not generally an option & cash works really well. Although spending money is not strictly necessary, the team councils recommends that AUD$250 is more than sufficient, in denominations of not more than $20.  AUD$1 is approx SBD$5, so even a $20 note blows out to $100, which is a lot of money to the locals.
