Man it was good to sleep horizontally for a full 12 hours & still be up at 7 in the morning to enjoy the sunrise. And the hot shower, wow! Talk about culture shock. I wandered around the shopping centre & it's freezing. I was wearing 4 layers, including my big Columbia jacket & I was still frozen. Canberra is surrounded by big dark grey clouds. I'm sure they have snow in them somewhere. Then I went into the supermarket & there were shelves everywhere & they were full of stuff! And I didn't see a single pothole the whole time I was out. Some words of advice for the Team members, if I may, please. We have all gone through a number of very large adjustments in the last 48 hours. From the exhaustion of getting the project job finished, on very little sleep, to a long trip home, we are all physically drained. We have had to leave behind some very special people that we have come to know & love, to return home to other people that we know & love, or in some cases, to an empty house. This is in itself a double whammy emotional upheaval. Then there is the temperature shock and the reverse culture shock. All of these will put a MAJOR strain on our individual energy systems & on our bodies. We are all prime candidates for getting sick if we don't make a special effort to look after ourselves. May I suggest big doses of vitamins, lots of rest, keep warm & be kind to yourself & your family. |
